Plasto purchases casting tools manufactured in China. Good communication via the internet has replaced travel, without compromising the quality of the end product.
For the past 15 years, Plasto has mainly used Chinese suppliers of moulding tools. Low prices, short delivery time and good quality are and have been a competitive advantage. Few or none delivers such tools in Norway anymore.
In the past, there have been some trips to China to follow up the production of molds. But now this has not been possible.
– This is another example of finding solutions together, even when we can not meet, says project engineer Øyvind Bjorli.
– Good common understanding through long collaboration and production of hundreds of tools means that we can produce new tools also during the pandemic without being physically present. Communication via the internet replaces travel, which makes it both more efficient and resource-saving, says Bjorli.
